I doubt there is anywhere in the US that still has mechanical machines of the kind you describe. If you find them anywhere they will be museum pieces as opposed to machines you can really gamble on.

Increasingly you can't even find machines that take real coins any more. These days you slide in a $20 or more, and then win a piece of paper with a dollar amount printed on it.

Frankly this is better for all involved, even if it may not have the same feel as the old days. For one you won't get your hands as filthy. For another the casino has lower costs, so they don't need to gouge you quite as much.

Pretty much...No

Now most don't even drop coins.
They spit out a printed ticket...
Pretty crappy if you ask me...I love the coins hitting the tray.

Check out Cripple Creek in Colorado. It's a very small gambling/mining town in the mountains. Last time I was there was about 7 years ago and they had some of the old pull handled ones. Dont know if they still do...

almost all of them still have a functional handle on the side, just most people don't use them. its for nostalgia mostly. any casino you go in will have them guaranteed.
